Jared woke up before me today, and hung out with Reiner for a little bit, while I slept an extra hour :) It was so nice to be able to sleep a little longer without having to listen for a baby. Friday night was WONDROUS, first great sleep we've had in weeks. For some reason, the last few weeks, Reiner has been sleeping in three hour intervals or so, but doesn't seem hungry when he wakes up. He just suckles for a couple minutes and falls back asleep on me. But do I dare transition him back to his bed? He wakes back up in 5 minutes. So finally, I was so tired- I thought I would try belly sleeping.
I know they say this is a big NO-NO, but I was desperate for sleep, and I was willing to try anything. I had been swaddling, not swaddling, trying to prop him on his side, more jammies, less jammies, trying to figure out what would help all three of us sleep! Then Friday night, I vouched for belly sleep. It was magical. Of course I was a little leery of it, but I do feel like a lot of information out there is just meant to scare. I'm like an ad for "not following rules". I of course, ended up waking up with massive sore boobs around 5 am, and he slept until 7:30! Good thing I still had my pump nearby (I haven't been using it recently, just too much of a hassle), I was able to get a little relief (but I think I had a clogged duct, it was feeling like the beginning of mastitis all over again).
Keep in mind (if you're questioning my parenting choices), he's been able to move his head side to side since he was 4 days old- he's a PRO at 4 months. Also, I have been putting him on his tummy for naps lately (so I can see how he moves when he's sleeping), and he never lays on his face. That's why I wasn't too worried about it. He's such a strong little guy!
This has been a big week for my little man! He's started eating purees, experimenting tummy sleep, and GRABBING HIS TOES! Yay! This morning when I was changing his diaper, he just grabbed onto his toes! I've never seen him do that before. Every time he was on his back today (playing, diaper changes, etc.), he would grab them! We went to visit Eden tonight, and Reiner pulled his foot into his mouth! He only did that one time, but I was so proud of him! It's so awesome to watch him change and grow, and LEARN new things all the time! It's hard to remember all the things he's accomplished by the end of the month (when I fill in his baby book), so I've started making little notes on the calendar whenever he does something new, or interesting, or cute!
I guess writing it out here helps to keep track as well!
